Jaltest is the tool that mixed-fleet shops, off-highway shops, and the kind of truck shops that work on whatever rolls in the bay door reach for first. It is the most genuinely multi-brand platform on the market. One software activation, one adapter, and you are pulling codes, running bi-directional tests, and resetting parameters on a Volvo VNL, an Iveco that came in on a lowboy, a Kenworth T880, a Case excavator, a John Deere combine, and a Volvo Penta marine engine. That is not a sales pitch. That is what the platform actually does, and it is the reason Jaltest has carved out the place it has in North America over the last fifteen years.
If your shop sees one engine make and one chassis make, Jaltest is probably not the first tool you should buy. The OE software for that brand will be cheaper and deeper. But the moment you are looking at a board where last week's tickets had a Mack, a Freightliner, a Hino, an International, two Peterbilts, a Bobcat skid steer, and a customer's Mercury outboard sitting on a trailer in the parking lot, Jaltest starts looking like the smartest two-thousand dollars you can spend. We sell it, we run it, we support it, and we have opinions about where it shines and where it does not. This page is the honest version. If you want a quote or a kit recommendation tailored to what your shop actually sees, call us at 866-217-0063 and we will walk through it with you.
Who Cojali and Jaltest Are
Cojali is a Spanish engineering company headquartered in Campo de Criptana, in Castilla-La Mancha, about a hundred miles south of Madrid. The company was founded in 1991. They started as a parts manufacturer for the heavy commercial vehicle industry, building things like cooling fan clutches and electronic components, and they still do that side of the business under the Cojali Parts label. Jaltest, the diagnostic platform, launched in 2002 as a way to give independent shops in Europe an all-makes alternative to dealer software.
Today Cojali is in more than 115 countries with sales offices in France, Italy, Germany, Turkey, Mexico, India, and the United States. North American distribution and support runs through Cojali USA, headquartered in Doral, Florida. Cojali USA handles training, dealer support, the technical hotline, and the warranty network. When you buy Jaltest from us, the Cojali USA backbone is what stands behind the product after the box leaves our warehouse. Three major software updates per year, typically January, May, and September, push out new vehicle coverage, new bi-directional functions, and updated wiring diagrams. The release cadence has been steady for years and is one of the reasons Jaltest keeps closing the gap on North American coverage that competitors used to dominate.
Cojali also formed a joint venture with BPW, the German axle and trailer manufacturer, back in 2016. That relationship is part of why Jaltest's trailer and air system coverage on European-spec equipment is so deep. It also signals what kind of company Cojali is. They are an engineering shop that other engineering shops want to partner with.
The Jaltest Edition Lineup
Jaltest is licensed by edition. You buy the software activations that fit the work you do, and one Jaltest Link adapter handles all of them. The current editions and what they cover:
Jaltest CV (Commercial Vehicles). The flagship edition for North America. Class 3 through Class 8 trucks, buses, trailers, light commercial vehicles, and pickups. This is the edition that covers your Freightliners, Peterbilts, Kenworths, Macks, Volvos, Internationals, Hinos, and Isuzus on the domestic side, plus Iveco, Scania, MAN, DAF, Mercedes-Benz, and Renault Trucks on the European side. CV is what most North American shops start with.
Jaltest TruckHD. A heavy-truck-focused edition that overlaps with CV but is sold in some markets as a stripped-down or expanded variant depending on the distributor's bundling. In practice, US shops almost always end up on Jaltest CV. We can talk through which edition fits when you call.
Jaltest OHW (Off-Highway). Construction equipment, cranes, excavators, dumpers, road maintenance equipment, and stationary engines. Coverage spans Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu, Hitachi, Volvo Construction, Liebherr, Case Construction, New Holland Construction, Bosch Rexroth, Grove, Terex, XCMG, and many more. Stationary engine coverage includes Cummins, Detroit, Deutz, Iveco-FPT, Kubota, MAN, Mercedes-Benz, MTU, Perkins, Scania, and Volvo Penta. This is one of the editions where Jaltest has very little competition.
Jaltest AGV (Agriculture). Tractors, harvesters, combines, sprayers, balers, forage equipment. The brand list is long, more than a hundred makes, and includes Case IH, New Holland, John Deere, Massey Ferguson, Fendt, Claas, Kubota, and Valtra. If you work on row-crop or hay-and-forage equipment, AGV is the edition you want.
Jaltest Marine. Outboards, inboards, sterndrives, and stationary marine engines. Volvo Penta, Mercury, Yanmar, MAN Marine, Caterpillar Marine, Cummins Marine, and others. Marine is one of the newer editions and the coverage list is still growing, but for a shop that takes occasional marine work it is a far better answer than buying a Mercury laptop and a Volvo Penta laptop and a Yamaha laptop.
Jaltest Bus. Transit and motorcoach. Some bus coverage is folded into CV, but Bus-specific editions and modules exist for specialized bus brands and bodywork ECUs.
Jaltest Stationary. Generator sets and stationary power. Folded into OHW or sold as a standalone activation depending on the kit.
Jaltest E-Diag. Electric and hybrid commercial vehicles. Cojali's EV-focused edition for high-voltage system diagnostics, battery management, and the safety-critical work that comes with electrified trucks and buses.
You can mix activations. A common kit for an independent shop is CV plus OHW, which covers everything from a Cascadia to a skid steer with one adapter and one license. Add Marine if the shop is near water. Add AGV if you are in farm country.
Where Jaltest Wins
Three things separate Jaltest from JPRO and TEXA and the other multi-brand platforms.
First, European brand coverage. If an Iveco rolls into your bay, or a Scania, or a MAN, or a Volvo from the European market, or a DAF, or a Mercedes-Benz Actros, Jaltest is the tool. JPRO can do some of this. TEXA can do more of it. But Jaltest does it deeper, with more bi-directional tests, more parameter adjustments, and better wiring diagrams. Cojali is a European company. The Iveco S-Way running around your terminal lot is not a foreign curiosity to them. It is the home market.
Second, off-highway, agricultural, and marine breadth. Nothing else in this price range comes close. JPRO is excellent at on-highway North American trucks. It does not pretend to cover a Komatsu PC360 or a John Deere 9R tractor or a Volvo Penta D4. Jaltest does, and the coverage on those segments is real, not a code reader bolted on. For a mixed shop that takes whatever the customer drags in, this matters more than any spec sheet.
Third, the hardware and software bundle. The Jaltest Link adapter ships in the kit. There is no separate dongle to buy. The annual subscription includes three major software releases, the Jaltest Info technical database, wiring diagrams, repair procedures, maintenance schedules, and Cojali's technical support line. The total cost of ownership is more honest than some competitors who price the hardware and the software separately and call attention only to one of them.
The Jaltest Link Adapter
The current Jaltest adapter is the Jaltest Link V9. It replaces the prior Jaltest Link, which is still in the field but is being aged out as software releases push past the older firmware. The V9 is the adapter you want if you are buying new today.
The V9 supports USB, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi connections to the laptop. USB is what you use when you are reflashing or running anything safety-critical, because a wired connection will not drop in the middle of a write. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are what you use when the truck is up on a lift and you do not want to climb under it with a laptop slung over your shoulder. Effective wireless range is around fifty to eighty feet in a typical shop, less if you have a lot of metal racking or a concrete wall in the way. It is plenty for a normal four-bay shop. It is not a replacement for USB on a lift in a high-EMI environment.
Protocol support covers what a heavy-duty shop actually needs. SAE J1708, J1939, OBD-II, ISO 9141-2, J1850 VPW and PWM, all the CAN variants. The V9 has four CAN channels for faster data transfer, which matters when you are scrolling through live parameters across multiple ECUs at once. It is Pass-Thru J2534 and RP1210 compatible, which is the technical detail that lets the V9 play nicely with OEM software when you are doing reflashes through INSITE or DDDL.
Physical build is what you would expect from a working tool. SUBD 26-pin connector, integrated Bluetooth antenna so there is no whip to break off, shock-absorbing housing, IP40 sealing against dust and incidental water, and a protected USB port. The V9 also includes backward compatibility with older Jaltest cables through the JDC100 adapter, so if you have the prior generation of multipins you do not need to throw them out.
Software requirement is Jaltest 24.1 or newer. If you are renewing into the current release the V9 is the only adapter Cojali is selling new.
License and Subscription Model
Jaltest is annual subscription. You buy the kit, the kit comes with a year of software, and after that first year you renew. Renewal includes all three releases per year, the Jaltest Info database, and Cojali USA technical support.
Real-world renewal pricing for Jaltest CV in the United States runs in the low-to-mid four figures depending on your tier and whether you are bundling segments. CV plus OHW renewed together is cheaper than CV and OHW renewed separately. Multi-segment shops should always ask about bundle pricing because it can be a meaningful difference. We do not publish the renewal number on this page because it moves and because what you actually pay depends on the configuration you are coming from. Call us and we will give you a real number for your account.
If you let the subscription lapse, Jaltest will keep working at whatever release you were on the day it expired, but you stop getting new vehicle coverage, you stop getting new bi-directional tests, you lose access to the technical database and the support hotline, and you fall further behind every quarter. For a shop that is using Jaltest as a daily-driver tool, lapsing the subscription is a bad plan. For a shop that bought Jaltest for a specific project and does not need new coverage, it is a legitimate choice.
The hardware does not need to be repurchased on renewal. Your Jaltest Link V9 will keep working through subsequent software releases. Cojali historically refreshes the adapter generation every five to seven years, and when they do, the new adapter is offered as an upgrade rather than a forced replacement.
Where Jaltest Has Limits
The honest part. Jaltest does not do everything, and we will not pretend it does.
The biggest gap is reflashing on US-domestic engines. If you need to flash a Cummins X15 with a new calibration, you need Cummins INSITE. If you need to flash a Detroit DD15, you need Detroit DiagnosticLink, formerly DDDL. If you need to flash a PACCAR MX-13, you need PACCAR Davie. Jaltest will read codes on all of those engines, run bi-directional tests, do forced regens, reset learned values, and pull live data. Jaltest will not write a new calibration to the ECU. The OEMs gate that work behind their own software, and there is no third-party tool that goes around the gate. JPRO is in the same position. So is TEXA. This is not a Jaltest weakness. It is the structure of the industry.
The right answer in a serious shop is to pair Jaltest with the OE software you need most. Cummins shops pair Jaltest with INSITE. Detroit-heavy shops pair Jaltest with DDDL. PACCAR shops pair Jaltest with Davie. The Jaltest Link V9 is Pass-Thru J2534 capable, so the same adapter you use for Jaltest can act as the J2534 interface when you launch INSITE or DDDL. One adapter on the truck, two pieces of software on the laptop. That is the standard setup for a real heavy-duty shop and it is the setup we recommend most often.
Beyond reflashing, there are a few specific functions on US-domestic engines where JPRO has historically had a depth advantage on certain Detroit and PACCAR features. The gap has narrowed substantially over the last three years. For most code-and-test work, Jaltest is now competitive on these engines. If your shop is ninety percent Pete and KW with PACCAR engines, JPRO might still be the slightly better choice. If your shop is ninety percent anything-other-than-Pete-and-KW, Jaltest is.
The other thing to know about Jaltest is that the interface has a real learning curve. It is feature-rich. There are a lot of menus. A new tech who has never touched it will be slower for the first month than a tech who has been running JPRO for a year and switches over. The trade is that once a tech knows Jaltest, they can move between a Cascadia and a CAT excavator in the same hour without changing tools, and that is a productivity gain that compounds.
Common Use Cases
Independent mixed-fleet shop. The classic Jaltest customer. Twelve to forty trucks rolling in any given week, no two the same, mix of brands the dealer cannot serve fast enough or cheap enough. Jaltest CV, optionally CV plus OHW, with a Jaltest Link V9 is the daily tool. The shop pairs it with INSITE, DDDL, or Davie based on which OEM engine they see most often.
Dealership cross-coverage. A Freightliner dealer that wants to take in Macks and Volvos when their own shop is slow. A Peterbilt dealer running a wholesale account for a refuse fleet that has a mix of brands. The dealer's own OE software covers their primary brand. Jaltest covers everything that is not the primary brand.
Off-highway, marine, and agricultural shops. Construction equipment dealers running rental fleets, ag co-ops working on customer-owned tractors and combines, marina service yards taking in seasonal Volvo Penta and Cummins Marine work. For these shops, Jaltest OHW, AGV, or Marine is often the primary tool, not the secondary.
Refuse, municipal, and mixed government fleets. Garbage trucks, street sweepers, dump trucks, snowplows. These fleets buy from whoever was lowest bidder this year and the equipment is mixed by definition. A Jaltest license that covers CV plus OHW handles almost all of it.
Mobile diagnostic techs. Solo operators running out of a service truck need one tool that does everything because they cannot carry six laptops and twelve cables. Jaltest plus a couple of OE titles is the standard mobile tech kit.

What Your Shop Needs
For most North American shops, the starting kit is straightforward. Jaltest CV software, a Jaltest Link V9 adapter, the multipin cable set, and a ruggedized laptop or panel PC. Add OHW if you see construction or stationary equipment. Add Marine if you are coastal or lakeside. Add AGV if you are in farm country.
The honest pairing advice for a domestic-engine-heavy shop: own Jaltest for everything-else, and own the OE software for the engine make you see most often. INSITE for Cummins-heavy shops. DDDL for Detroit-heavy shops. Davie for PACCAR-heavy shops. Bendix ACom Pro for ABS work that goes deeper than what Jaltest does. Eaton ServiceRanger if you are doing transmission work. The combination of Jaltest plus one or two OE titles plus a J2534 interface gets you through ninety-five percent of the work that comes through a heavy-duty shop. Calling 866-217-0063 and telling us what your week looks like is the fastest way to land on the right kit. We do this every day.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will Jaltest cover a 2024 Cummins X15? Yes for diagnostics. Codes, live data, bi-directional tests, forced regen, DPF service, after-treatment functions, parameter adjustments where the ECU allows them. No for reflashing the calibration. For an X15 reflash you need Cummins INSITE, and you can run INSITE through the same Jaltest Link V9 adapter using its J2534 capability.
Does Jaltest do forced regens on a Detroit DD15? Yes. Forced regen on a DD15 is a standard function in Jaltest CV. Same for the DD13 and DD16. You can also pull soot loads, reset after-treatment counters, and run injector cutout tests. What you cannot do in Jaltest on a DD15 is reflash the engine calibration. That requires Detroit DiagnosticLink.
What does the Jaltest renewal cost? Annual renewal for a Jaltest CV license in the US runs in the low-to-mid four figures depending on your tier, whether you are renewing on time, and whether you are bundling additional segments. Bundles are cheaper per-segment than standalone activations. Call 866-217-0063 with your serial number and we will quote your specific renewal.
Is the Jaltest Link V9 required, or will an older adapter work? The older Jaltest Link is still supported on current software, but Cojali is moving feature releases and firmware support to the V9 over time. If you are buying new today, get the V9. If you have a working older Jaltest Link, you do not need to replace it immediately, but plan for the transition over the next few subscription cycles.
Jaltest versus JPRO for a mostly-Pete-and-KW fleet running PACCAR MX engines? If your fleet is ninety percent PACCAR, JPRO is probably the slightly better single-tool answer for code-and-test work, and you will need PACCAR Davie either way for reflashing. If your fleet is mixed, Jaltest wins because the multi-brand coverage is broader. Most PACCAR-heavy shops we work with end up running Jaltest plus Davie and skipping JPRO entirely. Different shops land different ways. We are happy to talk through the specific fleet mix.
Can Jaltest do trailer ABS work? Yes. Jaltest CV covers Wabco, Haldex, Bendix, and Knorr-Bremse trailer ABS systems with code reading, bi-directional tests, sensor calibration, and brake balance functions. The Cojali-BPW joint venture means trailer coverage is a particular strength on European-spec trailers.
What laptop do I need to run Jaltest? Windows 10 or 11, sixty-four bit, sixteen gigabytes of RAM is comfortable, an SSD is required in practice because the Jaltest Info database and the install footprint are large, and a USB 3 port for the adapter when you are in wired mode. You can run Jaltest on consumer laptops, but a ruggedized panel like a Dell Latitude Rugged or a Panasonic Toughbook is what most production shops use because the laptop is going to live in the truck cab.
Why Buy Jaltest From Heavy Duty Truck Diagnostics?
We are an authorized Jaltest dealer. The kits and software we sell are factory-fresh, registered to your shop on the Cojali side, and backed by the full Cojali USA manufacturer warranty. There is no gray-market hardware here, no expired licenses pulled from somewhere they should not have been, no mystery adapters. What you buy from us is what walks into a Cojali USA training class.
Free US-based tech support. Call 866-217-0063 and you get a person who has actually run the tool. We help you with installation, license activation, adapter pairing, the first regen you try on the new platform, and the call you make six months later when something is not behaving. We do not bill you for support time. The support is included for as long as you own the tool.
Full manufacturer warranty on the Jaltest Link V9 hardware, processed through us so you are not chasing a warranty claim through a phone tree in another state. If a piece of hardware fails inside the warranty window, we handle the replacement.
Kit, software-only, and renewal options. If you are starting from zero, we can build you a complete kit with the Link V9, the multipin cable set, software, and a ruggedized laptop. If you already have a laptop you want to use, we sell the hardware-and-software bundle without the laptop. If you are renewing an existing license we will run the renewal through your existing serial number. The fastest way to a clean quote is a phone call. About ninety percent of the kits we sell get configured on the phone because the right answer depends on what your week actually looks like, and that is a conversation, not a checkbox.
Authorized dealer since 2016. Real techs on the phone. Real Jaltest experience in the building. Same-day shipping on stocked items. We are the kind of dealer we would want to buy from if we were on the other side of the counter.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes does Jaltest cover?
Jaltest covers 214+ makes total. On the commercial vehicle side that includes Freightliner / Daimler, Peterbilt & Kenworth (PACCAR MX), International / Navistar, Volvo & Mack, Western Star, Hino, Isuzu, Ford, and UD Trucks. The same Jaltest Link V9 hardware also connects to Caterpillar, John Deere, Kubota, and Komatsu equipment, marine outboards, and major forklift platforms.
What is the difference between Jaltest segments?
Jaltest is split into five software segments — Commercial Vehicles (CV), Off-Highway (OHW), Agricultural Vehicles (AGV), Marine, and Material Handling Equipment (MHE). Each has its own software module and cable kit, but they all run on the same Link V9 interface. Most shops start with CV, then add segments as needed.
Does Jaltest do forced DPF regens and ash resets?
Yes — forced regens are well-supported across modern Cummins, Detroit, PACCAR, Volvo/Mack, International, and Cat platforms. Ash resets are supported on most platforms but coverage on the very latest model years (2024+) can be uneven. We confirm specific compatibility for your fleet before you buy.
What is included in a Jaltest kit?
A standard Jaltest CV kit includes the Jaltest Link V9 hardware interface, the Jaltest Diagnostics software with a 12-month subscription, a complete cable + adapter set for your chosen segment, a rugged carry case, and free phone support from our techs.
